Hyundai Repair: TPS adjustment sonata 2002, voltmeter, sonata

Question
Hi HT - I'm told there is a way to adjust the TPS, but I don't know how.  I have the specs which call for a particular voltage. The car start, but won't idle. IF I floor the throttle, it will idle, but sounds like it's running on 1 cyl or not getting fuel. 2.4l engine

Answer
Before I looked at the electrical schematic, I thought you had a 4-wire TPS, but the schematic shows a 3-wire TPS.  Presuming this car actually has the 3-wire TPS, connect a voltmeter between terminals 1 and 3 of the connector(black/orange and blue wires) while the connector is still plugged in.  If the voltage with key on and throttle closed is between 300mV and 900mV, the TPS is adjusted properly.  If not, loosen the two TPS mounting screws and rotate the TPS until the voltage is within specification.  Preferred voltage would be 600mV.

Based on your description of your symptoms, however, I doubt the TPS is your issue.  It sounds like you may have a misfire.  Is your check engine lamp coming on or flashing?
