Hyundai Repair: Clutch chirping noise, throwout bearing, hyundai accent

Question
Hello, I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent 1.5 SOHC with a 5-speed manual with 60,000kms. I have bought it last week and I've started to notice a chirping noise. It sounded like a belt squeaking, but after applying some belt dressing without effect I've concluded it to be something else. Today I noticed that the chirping only occurs when the clutch is in the released position, and when pushed down an inch or two, it stops. What could be causing this chirping sound, and how could it be fixed? Thanks for the help!

Answer
Most likely, your throwout bearing is making the chirping noise.  Unfortunately, you'll need to remove the transmission to replace it.  Unless you begin to have a problem with the smoothness of your clutch operation, I wouldn't recommend any action at this time.  Ideally, you'll want to replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing all at the same time.
