Hyundai Repair: ECU fuse blows on start, oxygen sensor, drive axle

Question
I have a 2000 elantra the ECU fuse blew as i was driven down the road replaced fuse and when i turn the key the fuse blows again seconds after start. Replaced the fuel pump that wasn't the problem. still doing the same thing. any ideas?

Answer
Check the wiring for the rear oxygen sensor.  I've seen it rub through on the drive axle causing a short circuit.  There's a plastic holder on the manifold support bracket to which the sensor connector should attach, holding the wiring away from the axle.

If that's not the problem, you'll need to do a systematic check of the circuits controlled by the ECU fuse until you find the problem.  You can view the schematics for your vehicle at www.hmaservice.com.  You'll need to register for a free account, and the site requires Internet Explorer.
