Hyundai Repair: Door/Window interference, checker block, interior panel

Question
'99 Accent 3-door
Not sure if this might be considered a body problem but: I had been having difficulty opening and closing the driver side window and also been having some odd noises opening and closing the door. At one point while rolling up the window there was an audible snap and the window tilted forward.  Upon removing the interior panel and plastic, I could see that the door stopper (the thick metal piece with a rubber stopper that runs though the door edge) was pushing directly into the forward window track when the door closed, and had actually kinked the track. There is a bushing where the stopper goes though the door, and that is visibly worn, but it doesn't look like it could account for things being that far out of whack. Or could it? The window regulator seems to be fine. Not sure about the rear track. Is the bushing the only problem, or is there something else I should be looking at?

Answer
It sounds like you're describing the door checker.  This is the device that prevents the door from being opened too far and provides resistance to help keep the door open.  It bolts to the front of the door, and there's an arm that extends out and attaches to the rear of the front pillar.

If the door checker is hitting the window track, I'd suspect that the checker is either broken or has come unbolted from the door.  The arm should be the only thing that moves inside the door when shutting the door.  If the door checker block inside the door moves, then there's definitely a problem with the door checker.

On your window, check to be sure it's securely attached to the grips (plastic u-shaped pieces) at the bottom of the regulator.  There will be two of these.  If the window has come loose from either, that will be why the window is tilted.  To repair, you'll need to reglue the window into the grip with epoxy or similar material.  When this occurs, there's often a problem with the window run (the rubber channel in which the window moves up and down) being misshapen.  If that's the case, you'll need to replace the window run as well.
