Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Brake lights & cruise, cruise control module, tail lamps

Question
I just noticed on the weekend that my cruise control on my 1998 Tiburon no longer works, and today someone told me I have no brake lights, all fuses have power and the tail lights still work.  Any ideas as to what's wrong with the tail lights or the cruise control???

Answer
Start by checking your brake lamps to see which ones are out.  If the only the center lamp illuminates, you should check your bulbs.  If none illuminate, your brake pedal switch is probably defective, but since the bulbs are easy to check, you should start there.

If either all brake bulbs in the tail lamps are burned out or the brake pedal switch is defective, this can confuse the cruise control module and cause your cruise control to not work.  Start with fixing the brake lamp issue and then recheck to see if your cruise control works.
