Hyundai Repair: Gasoline odor, mitsubishi chariot, fuel vapors

Question
I have a 2000 Hyundai Santamo(2nd generation Mitsubishi Chariot)minivan. I notice a strong odor of gasoline near the back of the car, but I see no evidence of any gasoline leaks. The gas cap is good, and the tank has not been  overfilled. Any ideas of what this could be?

Answer
If the odor is present only when or immediately after the vehicle is running, it's possible you're smelling the odor from the exhaust.

Otherwise, you should check the evaporative emissions lines to be sure they're in good condition.  These carry fuel vapors to the engine to be burned off.
