Hyundai Repair: brake pads 03 Santa Fe, friction properties, force distribution

What type of material are the OE brake pads? (organic, semi-metallic, or ceramic)  Can they be replaced with a different type?

Hyundai doesn't specify the material in their brake pads, so I cannot be sure, but the pads appear to be organic.  You can replace with a different type if you want, but there may be a difference in friction properties making the front/rear brake force distribution a little off.
