Hyundai Repair: tiberon, lock cylinder, power locks

Question
my 2003 tiberon w/powerdoor locks sometime won't work, I have to wait for a few hours and the car will let me in, however, then, the clock always sets back to 1:00. funny thing too, today, while driving, the door locks suddenly locked up. thanks

Answer
Anytime the clock resets to 1:00, you should suspect a problem with the battery.  This is the time to which the clock defaults.  Loss of battery power would explain inoperative power locks and the clock resetting.  If there is no power loss to the clock, the problem is within the clock itself (another common issue).

The fact that you say you wait a few hours to get into the car suggests that the key also will not operate the locks.  Is there a problem with the lock cylinder?  Will the locks not unlock by attempting to unlock with the lock button inside the car?  All of the switching for the power locks is in the two lock actuators, which are part of the door latches.  I suspect you have a problem with one or both actuators.
