Hyundai Repair: check engine light trouble code p1605, hyundai accent, acceleration sensor

Question
hi, i have the check engine light illumination on my year 2000 Hyundai Accent. I read the OBD11 socket with a scanner and it reads P1605. i have tried clearing the light but it comes back on after a day or two or cleareance. any idea what this code means? thanks.

Answer
P1605 indicates a problem with the chassis acceleration sensor that's bolted to the top of the right strut tower.

Check the voltage between the green/black and green wires in the sensor connector.  It should be 5V.  If it isn't you'll need to check the wiring between the ECM and the sensor.  If it is 5V, chances are very good that the sensor is the issue.  The only other possibilities are that there's a problem with the signal wire between the sensor and ECM, or a problem with the ECM itself, both of which are very rare.
