Hyundai Repair: 2000 Hyundai Sonata GLS, hyundai sonata, best bet

Question
Recently my battery died and a friend gave me a jump.  Afterwards the radio in my car stopped working.  The panel lights up, but no numbers display.  The audio comes on and off intermittently.  How do I remove the entire system and either repair or replace it?

Answer
You won't have much luck repairing your radio.  Your best bet will be replacement.

To remove the radio, remove the trim panels from the top of the console.  One will pry out, exposing two screws that will enable you to take the second trim panel off the console.  This will then expose the bottom of the trim panel for the dash.  Check to see whether there are any screws holding the bottom of the trim panel in place.  I believe there are two, but don't recall for certain.  Then remove the dash trim panel.  After that, it's simply a matter of removing the four or six screws that mount the radio in place and pulling out the radio and unplugging it.

You will likely need to do some modifications or purchase an installation kit to install your new radio.  The salespeople at the store where you purchase the radio should be able to advice you on this.
