Hyundai Repair: Check engine light, hyundai xg350, power steering pump

Question
QUESTION: My check engine light just clicked on my Hyundai XG350 3.5L V6.  The code read P0704. I am already aware of a power steering pump leak, would that have tripped the sensor? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
ANSWER: P0704 is the code for a clutch pedal position switch and isn't used by the computer system in your XG.  I suspect you've either copied/typed the code wrong or your code reader isn't communicating properly with the ECM or TCM.  Recheck the trouble code.  If it indeed comes up P0704, you should try reading the trouble codes with a different code reader.

I'm sorry Eliot.  I forgot to address the power steering in my original answer.  A power steering leak cannot cause the check engine lamp to come on.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick reply. I had the code re-checked and it came out reading P0705. Any advice?

Answer
P0705 indicates a range switch circuit issue.  In the vast majority of the cases I've seen, replacing the range switch solves the issue.  If you haven't done any recent work near the transmission or the shifter and you don't see any chafed wiring in the harness going to the range switch, I'd recommend just going ahead and replacing the range switch.
