Hyundai Repair: 93 Hyundai Scoupe flooding problem, coolant temperature sensor, hyundai scoupe

Question
I have a 1993 Hyundai Scoupe (newer style). 1.5L (not the turbo). When I try to start it, it will fire and then fall on its face. I installed a switch on the fuel pump so that I could turn it off. Then it will start, rev up and slowly run out of fuel. When I turn it back on it will flood again when I try to start it. If I turn it off, let it run out of fuel, don't turn it back on just wait a few seconds and start it again, it will run for a while and then run out of fuel again, without ever turning the fuel pump back on. This means it got fuel again somehow? I changed the injectors thinking that they were leaking, that didn't work. Checked all the vacuum lines and changed a few, that didn't work. Finally I replaced the whole intake system, that didn't work. Just recently I opened the check valve on the fuel rail. With the car off keys out of the ignition, I released the pressure off the rail by pressing the needle down. I let the needle up, waited about 30 seconds pressed it down again and it regained pressure. I took the gas cap off to make sure that there was no pressure in the tank, did the procedure again and still regained pressure. Hope you help me out! Thanks!

Answer
Depending on how the switch was installed, it may not be preventing fuel pump operation.

If you're actually getting too much fuel, you might check the coolant temperature sensor as a possible cause.  If it reads too low, the fuel mixture will be too rich.

If your check engine lamp is on, you should check the stored diagnostic trouble codes or have them checked.
