Hyundai Repair: ??, hyundai elantra, crank sensor

Question
I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra, 2.0 4 cyclinder eng. It has over 100,000 miles on it and the check engine light is on. I had a code scanner read on it and it shows to be a faulty crank position sensor circuit A. My question is what does that mean and what else could i check before replacing the sensor?

Answer
Usually, when a code for a crank sensor appears, the problem is the sensor.  Since the crank sensor is easy to replace on your engine, I usually recommned replacing the sensor and clearing the lamp to see if it comes back.

The only thing that troubles me a little with recommending this is the fact that you report "faulty crank position sensor circuit A."  Hyundai crank sensors only have one signal circuit, and they don't usually categorize them as "circuit A."  If your trouble code is P0335, go ahead and replace the sensor.  If it's something else, please let me know the code# so I can check to verify you're chasing the correct problem.
