Nissan Repair: 1996 Nissan Sentra Engine Removal, nissan sentra, haynes manual

Question
Hi,
I've got a 1996 Nissan Sentra with a blown engine and I'm going to pull it out and put in a running junk yard engine I got a good deal on. Do you have any links or know the best way I could get a manual or instructions for pulling out the engine?
Thanks

Answer
Logan,

A Haynes Manual would be the best bet for the process since it is all inclusive and only costs $20 bucks.  Nothing too exciting on the engine removal.  But, if it is a manual transmission car be sure to replace the clutch while it is out.  You are going to need to jack up the car and use jack stands to hold the front up and then use a jack to holt the transmission pan while you pull the engine.  Also, remove the hood and put it in a safe place.  Remove the battery and do the same.  But, before you remove the battery, if it is an automatic, you will need the starter to turn the motor to access all four torque converter bolts.  There is an inspection cover underneath that you can access these from.  Before you pull the motor be sure to disconnect all the hoses and harness connections.  Put the old motor next to the used one you will be installing and compare all the sensors and remove and replace those on the new engine so it will fit in your car.  Then, install the engine.  Also, check the motor mounts since they usually are bad with this much time on them.
