Hyundai Repair: ignition coil sparkplug wires, hyundai accent, plug wires

Question
2002 hyundai accent 1.6 dohc 5 speed 160,000 when do i change them still have original (should i use OEM PARTS)only been doing sparkplug changes.

Answer
The plug wires and ignition coils aren't considered to be regular maintenance on your vehicle.  In regard to the plug wires, you should ask yourself what the inconvenience would be if one starts arcing and your car begins to misfire.  If it's important to you that this not occur, you might consider changing the plug wires every 60k (every other plug replacement).  If it's just a small inconvenience, just replace them when they begin to arc.  I do recommend using only factory plug wires.  I have yet to see aftermarket wires that compare favorably with the factory plug wires.

Many ignition coils last the life of the vehicle.  I wouldn't recommend replacing an ignition coil if it develops a problem.  While I'm a firm believer in OEM parts, I have no reason to believe that an aftermarket ignition coil would give you a problem.
