Question
Ok.. thankfully I found this picture of it.. this is what I bought from the store.. this is exactly what it looks like. I got it from autozone.. it is possible the fuel filter isn't even the problem with the car.. I know its due to be changed.. but.. the car is jolting.. hesitating.. stalling.. showing lack of power.. I changed spark plugs.. wires appear to be ok.. I may need to bring in to a shop somewhere.. but I don't need them chargin me money that I can't really afford at this time.. uugh!

Ok.. I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT 2.7 V6 ..
it is past the mark for needing a fuel filter.. I have the filter... The problem is.. I have no Idea where the silly thing is? do I have to take down the fuel tank and look on top? I'll tell ya changing the spark plugs wasn't a picnic either what I had to move just to get to the rear ones.. heh.. any help would be great on the location of where it is..
Thank You..

The filter is in the fuel tank as part of the fuel pump assembly.  To access, you'll need to remove the rear seat bottom and the access panel underneath the seat.  Then you'll be able to remove the fuel pump assembly from the top of the tank through the access hole.

According to the diagram in the parts catalog, the round plastic piece on your fuel pump assembly is the filter.  Not sure what you have from the store.

I checked the information in the shop manual at www.hmaservice.com as a double-check, and it's a little confusing.  The procedure pretty much simply says to unbolt the filter and take it off, but clearly shows a diagram the access hole to the fuel pump with no filter evident in the diagram.  Look around through the access hole to be sure there's nothing present, but I believe what I have at the top is correct.

It's possible that what you purchased is a filter for a 2001 or older Tiburon.  Can you describe it?  Shape, color, material of construction, methods of attachment, etc.

Answer
Great picture, Brian.  That's definitely the one for '01 and older.

Since you've got the car apart, you may want to swing by the dealer and pick up the correct filter, but I doubt that's your problem.  It's very rare for a factory fuel filter to cause an issue, even if very old.

I don't have a real good idea from your description what's happening, and knowing when each of the symptoms occurs (e.g., on acceleration, when idling, etc.) may help me.  If your check engine lamp is on or has been coming on, you should read your engine and transmission diagnostic codes.  AutoZone has advertised they'll read codes for free.
