Hyundai Repair: 96 sonata misfires, sonata 2, intake leak

Question
i have a 96 sonata 2.0l dohc. it misfires and only runs on cylinder 1 and 4. cylinder 2 & 3 do not fire at all. i replaced the plugs, wires, and coil pack...still no help. no codes are stored. the number 2 & 3 plugs are just soaked with fuel, as if they do not even fire. if i remove the 2 & 3 wires while the engine is running there is no change. i have spark at all four wires though

Answer
I'm presuming you have spark at the plug end of the wires.  Since you have new plugs (and presuming the condition hasn't changed since replacing them), it's probably safe to assume the plugs are firing also.  If this is still in question, swap the plugs in cylinders 2 & 3 with those in cylinders 1 & 4.

You've removed the possibility of an ignition issue, so the issues you have left are fuel injectors, intake leak, and internal engine issues.  If the engine still misfires at high RPM just as badly as low RPM, that probably excludes the intake leak as a potential issue.  If it runs well at high RPM, you should investigate an intake gasket leak as the primary suspect.

First, swap the number 2 & 3 injectors with the number 1 & 4 injectors.  If the misfire moves with the injectors, the issue is the injectors themselves.  If it stays with the cylinders in question, it's most likely a compression issue.  In that case, the next step is to check the compression on the four cylinders.
