Hyundai Repair: 2003 Accent starting problem, fuel pressure gauge, crank sensor

Question
As I said before...I can push start it and it runs like a champ.

and it will start after it has been running for a couple minutes. But if it sits for more than an hour or so it won't start and I have to push it again.

I'm starting to think my starter is going bad instead of a fuel problem...maybe isn't strong enough to turn over my cold engine.

This could be a fuel problem.  Installing a fuel pressure gauge would to check fuel pressure while the condition is occurring would be a good idea.  Low fuel pressure in most cases would indicate a problem with the fuel pump.

But it's also possible that your computer isn't seeing all the information it needs to run the vehicle.  You could have a problem with the crank sensor.  It would be a good idea to check whether  you have spark at the spark plugs.  No spark would be an indicator that the computer isn't trying to run the engine.

Answer
Sorry, Eric.  I think I either skipped over that portion of your original question or I forgot about it.

If your car push starts even when it doesn't start with the starter, you should definitely be investigating the charging and starting system.  If you've still got the original battery in the car, that would be my primary suspect.  It's about the right time for it to start failing.  As a basic check of your battery, check the voltage between the battery terminals while cranking the engine.  If it goes below 10V, your battery is suspect.  As a basic check of your alternator, start your car and check the voltage at the battery terminals.  It should be about 14V.

Hyundai starter problems are very rare.  Even rarer is to have a starter work, but not work strongly enough to crank the engine properly.

You can fairly safely disregard my comments about checking the other systems.  They all need to work properly whether the car is push started or the starter is used.  The only things coming into play are those things necessary to operate the starter correctly and the failures that can make them not operate normally.
