Hyundai Repair: Replaced timing belt and rebuilt head on 01 Sonata, Now no fuel pressure, crank sensor, fuse box

Question
My sister in laws 01 Sonata with the 2.4L engine blew its timing belt on the highway. After replacing the timing belt and re-building the head and getting it all back together, there is no power to the fuel pump, and no fuel pressure. Possibility that maybe a cam or crank sensor is broken. Dunno where to start looking for the problem.

Answer
The ECM should ground the fuel pump portion of the ECM control relay when the ignition is turned to "on" or "start."  Although it's not uncommon for the crank sensor to be damaged by a failed timing belt, a functioning crank sensor is not required for the fuel pump to get power.  In fact, I cannot think of anything which could occur during the head and timing belt work which would cause a fuel pump power issue other than pinching a wire.

A good place to start would be to check all your fuses and make sure they're in good condition.  It's possible one of them is blown, preventing the fuel pump from running.  Check especially the ignition switch slow blow fuses in the underhood fuse box.  It's also a good idea to turn the key to the "on" position and verify that the check engine lamp illuminates at least for a few seconds.  If it doesn't, you'll need to investigate why the engine computer isn't turning on.
