Hyundai Repair: 2002 Elantra, fog lamps, digital voltmeter

Question
All lights on left side of vehicle had to be replaced at same time.  Headlights now seem dimmer than usual.  Also, I had fog lights installed after market and now they don't work either.
Do I have an electrical problem and how do I fix it?
Thanks

Answer
The parking lamps, marker, and tag lamps on either side of the vehicle are controlled by one fuse.  Was the fuse blown?

If your headlamps are dim, you should check for proper bulb installation.  As you look in the front of the headlamp (with the lamps off), the bulb should be inserted evenly into the hole in the rear of the lamp and should not appear crooked, misaligned, or only partially inserted into the hole.  If the bulbs are installed correctly, you should check your charging voltage.  To do this, start the vehicle and check at the battery terminals with a digital voltmeter.  Typical charging voltage is about 14V.

To help you with the fog lamps, I'll need to know how they were wired to the vehicle.  You can start by checking the fog lamp bulbs.  When doing that, you can turn them on and check with a test lamp to see if you're getting power to the fog lamps.  It's possible that the fog lamps were wired to the left side tail lamp fuse and that they caused the fuse to blow.
