Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Excel Sprint 95 - Doesnt kick over first time?, hyundai excel sprint, sprint 95

Question
Hi
When turning the key to start the car, nothing happens.  There is no noise, no smoke, nothing.  I keep trying to start the car like normal and eventually it starts and drives normally.  This happens whether or not the engine is hot or cold.  Also first thing this morning - It started first go, but when I got to the corner and put the brakes on the car stop.  It re-started first go.  What is your opinion?

Answer
You'll want to check your battery and connections as well as your starter connections.  If those are okay, you should check for proper voltage to the starter solenoid when you turn the key.  You should receive at least 10V at the solenoid when attempting to start the vehicle.  If so, you likely need a new starter.  If not, you'll need to examine the circuit from the battery, through the ignition switch, and to the starter solenoid to find out where your voltage drop is.  It's possible there may be an excessive voltage drop in your ignition switch.

But make absolutely certain you properly test the battery.  The other tests are pretty much meaningless if the battery isn't in good condition.
