Hyundai Repair: headlights, radiator support, headlamp bulb

Question
how do i change the bulbs do you have to remove the battery on the drivers side i have a 2004 elantra  door

Answer
It's possible to change the left headlamp bulb without removing anything other than the plastic trim cover that attaches to the radiator support and air cleaner, but it's very tight access.

To change the bulb:
1. Remove the three retainers and the 10mm bolt and remove the trim cover.
2. Remove the round dust cover from the back of the lamp.
3. Unplug the bulb.
4. Take the bulb retaining clup loose from the hook that holds it.
5. Remove the old bulb.
6. Install the new bulb with the tab facing up and clip in place.
7. Plug in the new bulb.
8. Install the dust cover.
9. Install the trim piece.

If you find you cannot manipulate everything as well as you'd like in the confined space, I find it's easiest to remove the headlamp assembly.  Once you have the trim out of the way, remove the three 10mm bolts holding the headlamp, unplug the lamp, and remove it from the vehicle.  Once the lamp is out, you'll have plenty of room to look at how everything is assembled and work with it.
