Hyundai Repair: 2001 Hyundai Sonata, fuel vapors, hyundai sonata

Question
My 2001 Hyundai Sonata has trouble starting after it has been refueled.  It starts fine any other time, but once the gas cap is removed, it has trouble starting. and idling.  I have to pump the accelerator to get it to start, and then rev the engine to 2,000rpm for about a minute before it will idle again.  Is it some sort of vapor lock?  Should I replace the fuel pump?  Dealership said nothing is wrong, but this was before I figured out this happens everytime I get gas.

Answer
The key to this diagnosis is that it occurs after refueling.  Most likely, the purge control valve is stuck open, causing the fuel vapors to be pushed into the intake when you fuel the vehicle.  As a result, the engine is flooded when you attempt to start it.

Remove the purge control valve and attempt to blow through it.  If you can blow through it, it's stuck open.
