Question
G'Day again,
It is a 86 model. i have noticed another problem, when i change gears, the car jolts so hard that i often smash my head against the windscreen, also the other day i lost all braking ,power and sped down the hill, i don't know why though because i had the car serviced 12 years ago, please advise

Answer
Hopefully, your last service wasn't in 1994.  I presume you mean something more like 12 months ago.

It sounds like this car is very hazardous to drive.  You should probably consider making sure the car is repaired before driving it again.

The reason for the problems you mention here may be that the engine is attempting to stall out every time you release your foot from the accelerator and attempt to shift gears.  If the engine stops running, you have only about two brake applications before you have used up your reserve for vacuum assist.  After that, the car will still brake, but you will need to press the pedal *very* hard to get anything approaching significant braking action.

Does the existence of these problems mean that you are no longer having problems starting the vehicle?

If so, what was steps were necessary to enable starting the vehicle?

Does the vehicle idle normally when started?

Is the smoke still coming out of the vents?
