Ford: 1989 Ford F-150, thick film ignition, ford f 150

Question
My truck won't start. It's a 1989 F-150, 4X4, 302.It was running just fine on Monday. Went to start it on Tuesday and nothing. Turns over, but won't fire. I have no spark. Tonight I just replaced the coil, distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Still no spark. Help.....

Answer
Hello,

The most common failure is the TFI (thick film ignition) module, which is bolted to the side of the distributor.

There are tests for these, but the quickest is to bolt the piece on, keeping it clean, and try it. If it starts, remove it and apply the grease and away you go.
If it doesn't start, let me know what fuel pressure, and codes are ,if any.

If you keep the module clean and dry, you should be able to return it. I just tell them that the truck started without it.

They run about $100.
