Hyundai Repair: 95 Sonata, range switch, shift lever

Question
Car will start in neutral but not in park.  Can I diagnose and fix this?  How?

Answer
Check the adjustment of the transmission range switch.  It'll be just below where the shift lever bolts onto the top of the transmission.

Set the parking brake and move the shifter to the neutral position.  There is a hole in the end of the shift lever on the transmission that should align with a hole in the range switch.

If the holes aren't lined up, loosen the two 10mm bolts attaching the range switch to the transmission and rotate the switch until the holes are lined up.  Then retighten the two 10mm bolts.

If the holes are aligned, you'll need to replace the range switch.
