Hyundai Repair: Speedometer not working, shaft speed, santa fe 2

Question
I removed what I thought was the speed sensor under the transmission cable bracket but it obviously was not because it had no gear and had 3 pin connection with a black round piece that goes into the top of the transmission. There is a second sensor similar to the one I removed which I think is the oil temp. sensor. Where is the speed sensor in relationship to the piece I removed. Thanks for your Help.

-----Question-----
I have a 2002 Santa Fe 2.7 liter V-6. My speedometer quit suddenly including the odometer. I have no codes in the computer and my check engine light is not on. Is this a speed sensor and if so how do I find it.
-----Answer-----
Chances are the speed sensor or gear in the sensor on top of the differential of the transmission has given out.  I've seen the sensor go bad, and I've seen the plastic gear stripped.  Your best bet is probably to replace the sensor and gear.

Answer
The one you removed is the input speed sensor.  It's used by the transmission computer to determine input shaft speed.  The other one you've referenced is the output speed sensor and serves a similar type purpose.  The one you'll need to replace is further back on the transmission toward the firewall, and down on top of the differential housing portion of the transmission.  It, too, will have a three pin connector, but the connector on this sensor will be larger, and if I recall correctly, it'll be green in color.
