Hyundai Repair: 2000 hyundai sonata transmission, shift linkage, hyundai sonata

Question
had a minor accident with car and had it towed to garage -the accident did not damage the transmission but now it jumps out of gear (automatic) what would cause this

Answer
If you mean that your transmission shifter physically moves into neutral, then you should check to make sure the battery is securely held in place and not able to come into contact with the shift linkage.  Actually, you should check to make sure nothing comes into contact with the shift linkage.

If you mean that the transmission *acts like* it's in neutral when it's actually in drive, then you should check your fluid level.  If it's low, you should check for leaks.  Depending on the nature of the leak, it's possible that it could be related to the collision.
