Hyundai Repair: engine warning light @ 1100 miles?, purge valve, warning light

Question
I have a 2006 Santa Fe Limited 4wd and the engine warning light came on. The mechanic put a computer to the car and said it was a fuel purging problem.
Is this a big or minor problem? Is it common?

Answer
This is a minor issue.  I'm presuming they installed a new purge control valve and all is okay now.

Every once in a while, there's a defective purge valve that sticks open, allowing fuel vapor into the engine when it's unintended.  Probably the most serious consequence you'd experience from this would be an extended crank after refueling or the vehicle sat for an extended period.
