hi my q? is I have a santa fe 2001 model it is a auto when you put the car in gear it free revs then will take around 10 to 15 seconds later the oil is a little brown looking but not to bad  should i start by changing the filter in it along with oil change could it be the bands would that be the last thing I look at if so how do you tighten them in that paticular model do i have to take the box out or can i get it from underneath your help would be appreciated thank you

Check your fluid (if you haven't already done so) to make sure it's at the correct level.  Drive the vehicle to get the transmission fluid to operating temperature.  Park on level ground, apply the parking brake, leave the engine running, shift into neutral, and check the fluid level.  If it's more than a quart low, start by adding the appropriate quantity of SPIII fluid and then check to see if the condition is gone.

If the condition is present with the proper fluid level, you'll probably need a transmission overhaul or replacement.
