Trying to remove back rotor on Hyundai Sonata 03 but cannot loosen adjustment on emergency brake pad.  How does adjuster work?

You loosen the brake by turning the 12mm bolt on the adjuster couner-clockwise.

Your issue is probably not the emergency brake.  If the rotor is caught on the emergency brake, it'll be difficult to turn or not turn at all.  Most frequently, the rotor is rusted to the hub.  Once you've removed the caliper and two rotor retaining screws-- I expect you've done that already-- it's usually necessary to strike the rotor with a hammer to break it loose.  Use a heavy brass or plastic hammer that won't damage the rotor.
