Hyundai Repair: Purge valve Santa Fe 3x, purge valve, charcoal canister

On my Santa Fe 2004 the purge valve has been replace 3 times in last 3 months. What can be causing this failure? Or is there other solutions to this problem?

Hi Ron.  Whether there are other solutions depends on what the issue is.  It would seem that if you've put three purge valves on in three months that there at least needs to be something additional done.  At worst, there was nothing wrong with the purge valve to begin with, explaining why you continue having problems.

In order to give you useful information, I'll need to know why the purge valve was replaced.  Was it the same reason in each instance?  If the check engine lamp was on, what code was stored?  It may also help to know which engine you have (2.4 four cylinder, 2.7 V6, or 3.5 V6).

If the purge valve really did fail in all these instances, I'd suspect that the charcoal canister is coming apart, allowing small pieces of charcoal to get into the valve and jam it.
