Hyundai Repair: Air Flow Sensor, air flow sensors, air flow sensor

Question
I have a 2000 Hyundai Sonata 4 cylindar and it seems like I'm going to have to replace the air flow sensor again for the third time.  There has to be something else that is making this go out.  The parts are only lasting about 2 months each.  Could you please give me some suggestions as to why this might be happening?  We are at our witts end on this.

Answer
Air flow sensors can be contaminated by oil, silicone, or just about any oily slippery substance.  If you're using an air filter which requires oiling, you should probably go back to the factory type air filter.

The other thing to consider is whether the air flow sensor is the issue.  What are your symptoms and how did you determine the air flow sensor needs to be replaced?
