Hyundai Repair: Protection Plan, warranty companies, factory warranty

Question
I recently bought a used Santa Fe 2002 w/75,000 km
The agent offered a sort of insurance that covers several parts (excl.maintenance-related). Questions:
a. Am I covered by the original warranty?
b. Does the Santa Fe have problems that justify the investment? (yearly repair cost vs. this plan)

Thanks in advance for your expert comment.
Alec.

Answer
A.  Since you've reported this vehicle's mileage in kilometers, I'm presuming it's not in the U.S.  As such, I'm not an authority on its warranty, but I believe the warranty outside U.S. is 3 years/60,000 kilometers.  Since this vehicle already has 75,000 km, the factory warranty would be expired.

B.  In my opinion, no vehicle justifies the investment for an extended warranty.  Companies sell these plans to make money.  The only reason I see to buy such a plan is if a major repair would leave you in a very bad financial situation.
