Hyundai Repair: Tiburon loses power, throttle position sensor, air flow sensor

Question
Thank you for the quick reply.  Yes, my car is fitted with a catalytic converter.  The car regains power above 5000rpm.  Would this be the case if the problem was with the catalytic converter or low feul pressure?  Could it perhaps be some sort of electronic problem/faulty sensors?

Answer
No, insufficient fuel pressure or a partially clogged converter typically won't regain normal power above 5,000 rpm.

Since the local dealer has looked at it and found nothing, I presume they checked for trouble codes and found none.  Were they able to duplicate the condition?  I would think that if they could replicate it and agree that it isn't normal, they'd continue working at it until they found the problem.  Keep in mind this may not be a quick process.

There are many things it could be.  Faulty throttle position sensor.  Faulty knock sensor.  Faulty air flow sensor.  Faulty oxygen sensor.  Intermittent ignition misfire-- 4000-5000 rpm may be just the right load criteria depending on your driving habits.
