Hyundai Repair: 2003 Santa Fe 2.4, crankshaft position sensor, power steering pump

Question
The engine will no start. Diagnostic code PO-335.
I have the new sensor but can't find where it goes. How do I get to the old one to change it out?

Answer
The crankshaft position sensor mounts behind the timing cover on a plate on the crankshaft.  To replace it, you'll need to remove the timing covers and the power steering pump bracket.  You'll also need to remove the timing belt or take the terminals out of the connector on the new sensor so you can slip the wiring behind the timing belt.  If you do this yourself, make absolutely certain you route the wiring *exactly* like the factory installation.  Rubbing on the timing belt or anything else under the cover will cut the wires in short order.
