Chevrolet Repair: steering gearbox, tie rod ends, sector shaft

Question
hi van have a 1988 chevy 4/4 3500 steering is sloppy at gearbox how do i adjust and how much thanks

Answer
Hello Sean,
First make sure the slop isn't in the tie rod ends or ball joints.
Then make sure the bolts holding the gearbox to the frame are tight.
Then adjust the sector shaft adjuster to where there is no play, and just ever so slightly a drag as it passes through straight ahead, with the wheels off the ground, and the engine off.
