Hyundai Repair: Purge Control Valve, rubber holder, vacuum hose

Question
To follow up on a previous question - is it difficult to change the Purge Control Valve on a 2001 2.7L Santa Fe?

I'd like to take a shot first before spending $$$ at a dealer. Thanks.

Answer
It shouldn't be that difficult.  It may involve some flexibility of your arms, however.  The purge valve mounts to the back side of the intake manifold.  If you follow the purge hose away from the throttle body-- there's a diagram on one of the hood labels-- you should be able to follow it to the purge valve.  It's held in place by a rubber holder and has a vacuum hose on either end and one two-terminal electrical connector.  Make sure you install it in the same direction as the old one, or you'll set a check engine lamp.

If you'd like to check the old one for being stuck open, simply try to blow through it after you take it off.  If you can, it's bad.
