Hyundai Repair: timing belt replacement diagram, technical service bulletins, timing belt replacement

Question
I have a 2000 elantra that needs a timing belt replacement. I need to know top dead center and or a diagram of installing the belt and anything else that is helpful in this matter

Answer
The camshaft sprocket lines up a small hole in the sprocket with a notch in the front camshaft bearing cap that's painted red.  The crankshaft sprocket has a white mark on it that lines up with a tit on the front case of the engine.

I'd recommend going to www.hmaservice.com and registering for a free account.  You'll need Internet Explorer for the site to operate.  Once in, you can look at the shop manuals, electrical schematics, and technical service bulletins for Hyundai autos sold in the U.S.  I looked at the diagram there, and although it shows the cam sprocket very clearly, I couldn't find anything that showed the crank sprocket very clearly.

If you've replaced timing belts before, this one won't be difficult for you.  My only tip is to look at the tensioner pulley before loosening it and notice the position of the hex hole relative to the bolt (usually about directly below the bolt).  If you're installing a new factory belt, you should be able to provide hand pressure to the tensioner and get it in the same position.

Follow up info:
I did an Elantra timing belt today and looked around for some additional information I could give.  If you're still having trouble with lining up the crank, the woodruff key is at 9:00 when the timing marks are aligned.  The marks themselves are at about 10:30.
