Hyundai Repair: Hyundai Accent 2001 - Starting, hyandai accent, hyundai accent 2001

Question
Hello,

My Hyandai Accent has had an issue with starting for the last few months.  Approximately, one out of every five starts it will not start.  I would then let the car sit for about 10 minutes and then it would usually start.  I noticed that it happened more often in the afternoon when the car was sitting in the sun, as opposed to the morining.  Also, when it finally did start I noticed a gas smell.  At those times when it didn't start, the engine would turn over and try to start, but it would just cut off after about 5-10 seconds of trying to start.  I brought it into a shop and the battery was replaced, but that did not resolve the problem.  I had a starting diagnosic test done at the time and they concluded that nothing was overtly wrong.  I then replaced the spark plugs and wires, which still did not fix the issue.  This past weekend I tried to start the car on Saturday and it again did not start.

After multiple attempts today, I was unable to start the car at all.  I did notice there was a mechnical buzz after I tried to start the car that was behind the spark plug area.  Any information that you could provide would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time!

Peter
