QuestionWe bought a used '04 Chevy Venture that had an aftermarket
Chapman alarm (but no remotes - the remotes are factory). I
can see the alarm lights on the edge of the bottom of the
dash, looks like it might be a key there that has the handle
broken off?
Anyway, the alarm has gone off at random a few times. Once
when I was sitting in the car, when I opened the front door
it went off (hitting the remote I couldn't turn it off,
ended up turning it off by shutting the door and hitting the
door lock button on the door). A second time, it went off
after I turned on the emergency lights, shut the doors and
locked the doors with the remote. A third time, it seemed
to have just gone off sitting with the doors locked, and no
one near the car. I'm not sure if there's anything that can
be done to fix it and I'm wondering if I should just remove
the system, but I'm in need of information on how to do
that.

AnswerDitch it. It's a pain in the butt and won't
go away on it's own.
Without the control mechanism for the Chapman,
you'll only be second guessing
if you don't extract it and possibly refit with another
one you know how to operate and what
it's capable of.
