Isuzu Repair: isuzu rodeo 99 ?transmission, isuzu rodeo, inhibitor switch

my question is, does it sound like it may be the transmission messing up. my car when you start it up, it revs up on its own to like 3rpm, after a couple times of that it dies, and now when i put the shifter into drive, it is reading that it is in nuetral or low gear. then when it shifts when you go, the whole car jerks and sounds like the engine is going to fall out. what to do???

Well I would start by checking your intake gaskets for any leaks, and all vacuum lines as this causes revving most of the time. As for the messed up gearing selection(hope thats right) It is called an inhibitor switch and is most likely the cause for the weird transmission position okay? ANy questions please let me know.
