Isuzu Repair: Engine harness wires, isuzu rodeo, engine harness

Question
QUESTION: We are replacing an engine in a 94 isuzu rodeo, in connecting the wire harness we have extra wires (Black/red) and can't seem to find a place for them.  The manuel and wiring diagrams aren't much help.  The wires are (hot).  The engine will turn over but won't start, we have spark but nothing else.  I realize this is a loaded question but any suggestion would be appreciated!  I've waited 4 years for hubby to work on my vehicle and now that I am trying to help he is more willing to get it running! GRR!  Please Help!

ANSWER: Well the extra wires are as you say hot and ground. How many wires? Alos what engine and transmission are in it??

QUESTION: The engine is a 2.6L, 4 cyl, manual transmission.  There are 2 hot (black/red) wires and there were 2 black (ground) wires which hubby grounded to engine.  He thinks the problem is something simple a no brainer but can't seem to find the solution.  Would love suggestions. Thanks so much!!

Answer
Well if there are extra wires that probably means you got the wrong engine of some sorts Joanie. If it was the same engine type and code the harness should have hooked up without a problem. Although the engine just cranking and cranking could mean it is not getting fuel so these hot and ground wires could be a fuel wiring harness or supposed to go to a CPS(camshaft Postition Sensor). Let me know what you find out though okay and we will go from here.
