Isuzu Repair: 95 rodeo v6 4wd trans, throttle position sensor, inhibitor switch

Question
Hi, I have a 95 rodeo v6 4wd and the transmission
works great when shifted manually into low and into
reverse, however when put in drive,3rd or 2nd it does
not want to take off. It is like it is taking off in 4th
gear, are 1st and reverse on the same band and others on
a different one, or might this be a trans control module
problem. the "check trans" light comes on as soon as it is started without putting it into gear. I just want to
get advise before pulling the tranny.
Thx, Guy

Answer
Look for any loose connections on your transmission electrical lines. Check to see if you are low on transmission fluid. If its an automatic- Even if it is a little bit low on transmission fluid, it will start acting all crazy. Also check your throttle position sensor. This might be the cause. Or it could be that your inhibitor switch is bad. Rodeos have a bad habit of these going bad. Look for one on e-bay. This will cause a check engine light to come on. Do this first before pulling your tranny and wasting a lot of your time.
