Isuzu Repair: Oxygen Sensors, oxygen sensors, oxygen sensor

Question
How frequent should I expect to replace the oxygen sensors on my 1997 Isuzu Trooper? Last January I replaced the fuel sensor, and today when I had the dealer check my "check engine" prompt, he told me I needed to replace the catalytic sensor. I live in the mountains, and both times occurred in January during inclement snowy weather with ashed roads.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
If the engine is tuned up regurally, you can expect the oxygen sensor to last about 40k miles. Remember that the oxygen sensor gets up to 1200 degrees and it may have problems before then. If you start to need new sensors alot have some one check the emissions if they are off, the oxyegn sensor will clog and malfunction.
