Jaguar Repair: 1987 jaguar xj 6 ignition amplifier

Where is the ignition amplifier located on the 1987 jaguar XJ 6 ? What is the correct procedure for its replacement ?

Hi Hector,

The ignition amp is mounted on the very front of the intake manifold with two bolts. Then plug the new one into the coil and plug the distributor harnes into the amp.

My question is, how did you determine that the amp needed replacing?

Did you test for power to the coil and test the coil itself? Did you test the pick-up in the distributor?
