This question regarding no start on the 1986 xj6 is the exact problem that I have. The thread never finished as to the problem. was there an answer to this problem?

The exact same symptoms on any car can be caused by different things so a procedure of testing is necessary to pin point the problem.

Do you have any tools and do you wnat to fix it yourself? You don't need to be a mechanic to fix it. I can walk you through the procedure if you wnat to do it. Even if you don't have tools I can tell you what to buy and they are not expensive for the tests.
