Jaguar Repair: 87 jaguar sunroof remove

Question
Hi Howard:
the sunroof is closed in the front but not in the back,how do i remove the sunroof or do i have to remove the sunroof to get the rear to come up that is lower than the back?

Answer
Hi Richard,

The rear of the sun roof is raised up into place by two plastic ramps. To see what is wrong, open the sun roof about 6 to 9 inches and remove the screws from the leading edge of the sun roof, then close the sun roof and lift the front of the top cover of the sun roof up and slid the top forward and out. This exposes the lower half of the sun roof and the workings. I found it best to raise the front of the top cover a little just before completely closing the roof.

Note that there are two ears on the lid at the rear and they fit under wire spring clips so when you find what is wrong and correct it and go to put it back together you need to be sure that each ear slips under each spring clip.

With the lid off you can see the cables and the ramps at the front and rear that raise the sun roof into place when closed.

At this point you should be able to see how it works and what broke or came loose and make repairs to the rear ramps.

let me know,

Howard
