Jaguar Repair: xjs V12 fuel supply, light restoration, fuel supply

Question
I have recently purchased a 1988 5.3 V12 XJS with a view to light restoration. The car has only covered 55,000 miles by 1 owner from new.Unfortunately it has been parked in a garage for 10 years and not used.On getting the car home i removed the plugs to make sure the engine would turn by hand which it did.I put the plugs back, changed the oil,put in fresh fuel and charged the battery. The engine spins freely on the key but does not fire. The fuel pump does not appear to be running.I have pulled out the relay on the right hand side which i was told was for the pump, gave it a spray but nothing.Gave the pump a few taps but nothing.Would it be best to run a direct live from the battery to the pump to see if the pump works or do you feel it could be something else.I am unsure how to check wiring. The car was running fine when parked up.Any help would be greatly appreciated Steve

Answer
Chances are the fuel pump is bad after 10 years. You can run a wire from the battery to the pump to see if the pump works. Go to (welshent.com) and down load a catalog and there you can also check on the price of parts and order a manual. The catalog will show you the location of the parts. I hope that this helps.
