Jaguar Repair: No fire on 1985 jaguar 4.2 straight 6, air flow meter, ballast resistor

Question
Hi,

This may seem a bit odd, but I have bought an old 1985 jaguar xj6 in
Canada without seeing it (long story - don't ask!)

I knew the car didn't run, but it is very cheap. The owner told me that, "as
he was driving the car home one day last month, she just cut out on him"
He has:
Spark at plugs,
Fuel at fuel rail,
Power to turn over - but no fire.

I'm guessing,

Some kind of electrical feed missing to injectors, (broken wire)

Or

Ecu fail (possible earth of ecu?)

I'm curious to know if there is an independent live feed to the injectors,
and if they do fail from time to time, availability of an ecru, and where are
they located, any thing else you may suggest that might cause this
problem.

Thanks in advance

Answer
First buy a manual. It will show you where everything is located.
There are a few things that could be causing your problem.
To check to see what could be causing your problem do this.
Remove hose that is connected to the air flow meter which is connected to the throttle body and inject some fuel into the air flow meter or the throttle body. If the engine starts you have a fuel problem. If it doses not start, you have a ignition problem.
These are a few things that I have found that could cause your problem.
1.The cold start relay
2.The cold start injector
3.Ignition coil
4. Airflow meter
5. Broken or crack distributors items
6. Broken Ballast resistor.
7. A lose wire or connection.

I am sure that one of these or something near by will fix your problem.

Go to welshent.com they may have what you need.
